Upcoming Events:

  • Dealing with Depression: Thursday, October 29, 2020, at 10:00 am EST: Join Debra Ward, Regional Extension Agent, to discuss ways you can manage the stress and emotions of the holiday season.  In this program, you will learn positive ways to eliminate stress and promote behavior that reduces stress and negative emotions. Call Tiffany English at 334-614-2853 for more info or click here to register online.

  • Troy Trick-or-Treat: Our partners at Troy will distribute treats for our kids in housing on Wednesday, October 28th, from 3p-4pm.  Distribution will be hosted at Riverview, Frederick Douglass, and LP Stough at an area adjacent to the school bus route.  Supplies are limited but distributed on a first-come, first-serve basis.  

 

On-Site Programs:

  • GED is hosted weekly at Chuck Roberts Activity Center.   Sessions are Mondays and Wednesdays 5:30 pm-8:30 pm.  Enrollment is FREE!

  • Kids and Kin is hosted at Troy University bi-monthly.  This program is hosted by Family Guidance and provides educational workshops for relative childcare providers (grandparents, aunts, uncles, etc.).  Each participant has an opportunity to earn free gifts and prizes!  Workshops are free and hosted from 11 am-1 pm on respective dates.  Attendees must RSVP in advance to be added to the list.   • CAFE (Community and Family Engagement) is hosted Tuesdays 6-7:30 pm at Chuck Roberts Activity Center.  CAFE is an opportunity for families to get together weekly.  Dinner is provided, and parents and kids get a chance to share time together and apart during break out sessions.  Games, crafts, and activities for the entire family! 

 

  • Senior Food Distribution is hosted monthly for Phenix City Housing Authority residents age 62 and above.  This year the distribution rotates site location monthly to make the event more accessible for our seniors.  An invitation is extended to seniors (age 62 and above) in public housing and Section 8.  Our upcoming event will be hosted Tuesday, November 17, 2020, at the H.L. Blake Office from 11:00 am to 2:00 p.m.  Interested seniors are instructed to return forms to rental (or Section 8) offices.

  • Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program is open to Alabama residents age 60 and above.  Registration is done annually, and eligible seniors will receive a $30 voucher booklet in the mail.  These vouchers can be used at the designated farmers market hosted during the summer months at Garrett-Harrison Stadium Thursday evenings and Saturday mornings.  Interested residents can register online at http://fma.alabama.gov/SeniorNutrition/
